SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, OrthoClear, Inc. announced that the University of Connecticut will be offering OrthoClear training as an elective course in its undergraduate and graduate dental curriculum. Beginning in the spring, the University will also be offering OrthoClear certification to its 4th year graduate students. "We are very excited about working with the University of Connecticut to educate future dental professionals on OrthoClears clinical and patient benefits," said Craig Crawford, OrthoClears Director of Clinical Research. "UConn is one of the top dental schools in the country, as demonstrated by its students routinely scoring at the top of the National Board Dental Examinations." The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine is the only public dental school in New England and graduates approximately 40 dental students per year. It offers advanced programs in most dental specialties, including Orthodontics, and has become recognized over its 35 year history for educational programs that blend in-depth basic medical science, cutting-edge research and excellence in patient care. "The addition of OrthoClear to our portfolio of elective courses is a natural for us," said Dr. Monty MacNeil, Vice Dean in the Office of Academic Affairs. "We want our students to be exposed to the latest advances in dentistry, especially when it integrates science, technology, and therapy. Our curriculum prepares students to evaluate new products as they emerge over their practice careers. This is a great opportunity for students to experience a new treatment approach and to put that training into action before they graduate." Dr. Andrew J. Kuhlberg, Director Pre-Doctoral Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, added, "Were pleased to be able to offer OrthoClear aligner training for future dentists while theyre still in school. With new technologies, its important for students to gain the exposure in an academic atmosphere without the pressures of a private practice environment. Schools can then promote a students thoughtful approach to the technologys clinical applications." About OrthoClear: OrthoClear is the worlds leading provider of next generation invisible aligner therapy, often referred to as "clear braces" or "invisible braces".
