Online Floral Providers Holiday Sales Increased Nearly 50 Percent Over 2004
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Hallmark Flowers announced today
that overall units ordered during December -- an important month for
retailers -- were nearly 50 percent above the same period in 2004, making
December 2005 a record-setting sales month for the company. The increase in
sales was attributed primarily to the floral retailers first holiday catalog
effort, the introduction of an expanded assortment of new and exclusive floral
gifts, and a targeted publicity campaign. All efforts helped drive record
traffic to HallmarkFlowers.com; and, because online orders represented 85
percent of total online and telephonic orders, this heavy traffic was directly
attributed to the sales spike.
Top floral sellers included exclusive holiday bouquets and licensed
products such as the "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree," also exclusive to
Hallmark. Finally, a new, limited assortment of non-floral gifts accounted
for almost 20 percent of total unit volume.
