CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Beijing New Bridge High School
makes a second visit to Calvary Church and Charlotte, NC this week. Students
arrived on Friday, January 20 and will stay through February 7. This visit is
a result of Calvarys Global Outreach trip to China in the summers of 2004 and
2005. Thirty Chinese youth are visiting us to learn more about our faith,
culture, and community. They will be introduced to the American educational
system, learn about the banking industry, and see how our government works on
a local, state, and federal level.
In addition to living with 12 Calvary Church host families, the Chinese
teenagers will spend several days at Providence High School, Charlotte
Christian High School, Academy of International Studies, Discovery Place, and
UNC at Charlotte. They will also visit the NC State Capital in Raleigh and the
US Capitol and White House in Washington, DC. To learn about the banking
system, they will visit the Federal Reserve agency and Bank of America in
Charlotte. Guest speakers, the Honorable North Carolina Senator Robert
Pittenger and local attorney Heloise Merrill of Parker Poe Adams and Bernstein
will share how the US constitution works in combination with state and local
government. They will also visit a Charlotte City Council meeting.
Our Chinese guests look forward to visiting the US, improving their
English skills, and learning more about our country. We hope that these future
leaders and citizens of China will gain a basis of friendship and
understanding for our country.
Calvary Church is located at 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte.
