SILVER SPRING, Md., Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Pathway Christian Church of Silver Spring, Maryland is auctioning off a LIMITED EDITION low mileage 1996 RED DODGE VIPER to benefit the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20051223/DCF022 ) According to Pastor Steven Heintze (Hind-Tza), "It is important that we not forget those who suffered this past Fall from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. At Pathway, we asked our members to be willing to sacrifice this past year and do something for those in need. We were blessed to have received such a wonderful donation in our offering plate, however, there is very little the congregation can do with this exciting gift in its present form. After a brief discussion with the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, we decided that the best thing we could do would be to auction the car off and donate 100% of the proceeds to the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, which is consistent with his wishes and our goals of making sure our brothers and sisters in the Gulf states are not forgotten, particularly during this season of peace." The 500 horsepower, V-10, convertible, red sports car is currently on display in the showroom at the Honda of Bowie Dealership on Route 301 in Bowie, Maryland. According to Honda of Bowie President, Phil Morelli, "The car is in fantastic shape, comes with a number of additional options and features and should easily go for over $50,000, particularly considering the cause." Morelli goes on to say that: "Honda of Bowie is pleased to have been asked to offer its facility for this wonderful gesture. The ownership of Honda of Bowie had many families impacted by the disaster in the Gulf States and we are pleased to help in any way we can, including offering our showroom for potential bidders to come out and see this magnificent car up-close." The Viper will be on display at the Honda of Bowie showroom until the end of the auction to the highest bidder. The auction is currently taking place on eBay.
