What is Risk Assessment?

Risk assessment involves identifying the hazards present in the workplace, and then evaluating the extent of the risks involved, taking into account existing precautions or control measures. These Risk Assessments are required under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 2000.

The Hazard is the potential for loss or harm and may be chemical or biological agents, ergonomic challenges, methods of work or other aspects of work organisation with the potential to cause harm or loss.

The Risk is the likely outcome should the hazard be encountered.

The Extent of the risk covers the people who might be affected by the risk and the potential consequences for them as individuals.

Cheviot Artus can undertake individual risk assessments that are:
  • Designed for the needs of the client company.
  • Presented in a quantitative format.
