NEW YORK, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Carl Spadaro, President of Earthcore
Industries, Incorporated (North American supplier of Danish Isokern fireplace
and chimney systems) in Jacksonville, Florida, was awarded the Diploma of the
Danish Export Association and His Royal Highness Prince Henriks Medal of
Honour at a reception at the residence of the Danish Consul General to New
York on Monday, December 6th. The medal was presented by the Consul General,
Ambassador Torben Gettermann.

The Princes Medal of Honour is awarded to foreign persons and/or
companies that have made a remarkable contribution to Danish export for a
number of years. An exceptional initiative or extraordinary efforts under
special market conditions are also qualification grounds.

Carl Spadaro, second generation Italian, was born in New Jersey. He went
to college at the University of Hartford, CT, and then to the University of
Florida for Building Construction Management.
In 1980, Carl began his career with the Investment business sector for
companies such as Merrill Lynch & Co., Shearson Lehrman, and Kidder Peabody &
Co. In 1989, through the Danish American Chamber of Commerce, Spadaro was
introduced to the Danish Isokern office in Jacksonville, Florida. The same
year, the Danish company of Dansk Isokern A/S offered Spadaro a position as
Managing Director because of his vision of success for the Isokern products of
taking the marketing approach to a whole new level. In 1991 Spadaro obtained
the licensing rights for Isokern and changed the name of the company to
Earthcore Industries Incorporated. Earthcore Industries started out with two
employees and has now grown to 50.
Spadaro left the investment business, which he had grown successfully, to
embark on marketing a new method of construction for a fireplace and chimney
throughout North America with Isokern. Just as Christensen, the 1940s
inventor of Isokern chimneys, had a vision of every Scandinavian home having
an Isokern, Spadaro has carried that vision to the U.S. and changed the way
fireplaces are perceived in the United States.
Sales in Earthcore Industries have grown from $200,000 in 1991 to over
$30 million in 2004. With virtually no financial assistance, Spadaro has
relied on sales and profit to market the product to custom design architects
and homebuilders. Isokern has also been used in On the Border Restaurants and
Abercrombie & Fitch stores as well as many other popular projects. Spadaro has
established eight company distribution, sales and installation offices
throughout the U.S. and supplies over 130 dealers.
According to Spadaro, over 1.2 million homes are built each year and
Isokern is the leading product in masonry fireplaces. This has changed the
landscape of fireplace construction across America. Spadaro feels that every
home should have at least one Isokern and continues to promote this Danish
technology everywhere he goes. He has single-handedly steered Isokern from an
