By order of owners: 4.5 acres, four historical diner cars - including the worlds most famous diner, "ROSIES DINER" - all restaurant equipment, liquor license, neon signage, etc. will all be sold intact to one bidder. ROCKFORD, Mich., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- By order of the owners, Rosies Diner, made famous by the Bounty(R) paper towel commercials featuring Nancy Walker, who played Rosie the waitress, cleaning up spills with "the quicker picker upper," is going to auction. Originally built by the Paramount Dining Car Company in 1946 as a Deluxe Model Diner, it was originally named the "Silver Dollar Diner" and resided in Little Ferry, New Jersey. In early 1991, the diner was loaded up and four days, 10 flat tires, and one fire later, it had found a new home in Rockford, Michigan. This fully restored diner and three others, including the "Uncle Bobs" diner, built in 1947 by Jerry OMahony Dining Car Company, and the two-car "Garden of Eatin" from Fulton, New York -- all joined together on one property -- are probably the finest collection of working, restored diners in America in one location. Currently serving as functioning restaurants with over 6000 sq. ft. of space and having served over TWO MILLION customers, it will all be sold with contents, liquor license, neon signage, restaurant equipment, etc. to a single high bidder! The Auction, open to the public, will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 11 am at Rosies Diner, 4500 14 Mile Road, Rockford, Michigan 49341.
