Applications Now Available for 2006 La Estrella Latina de Carls Jr. Scholarship Program CARPINTERIA, Calif., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Carls Jr. is pleased to announce that applications for the 2006 La Estrella Latina de Carls Jr. Scholarship Program are now available at participating Carls Jr. restaurants. The application deadline is Feb. 1, 2006. Sixty scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to deserving students to help support continuing education. Winners will be selected based on their academic record, school and community leadership and participation, work experience and future goals. Financial need and other family circumstances will also be considered. Applicants to the La Estrella Latina de Carls Jr. Scholarship Program must be students 21 years of age or under who are high school seniors or graduates. Eligible applicants must be planning to enroll for the first time in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational school. Applicants must be residents of Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Nevada or Texas. In addition to the application, students must submit an essay describing how they have been "A Star" in their community. In its eighth year, the La Estrella Latina de Carls Jr. Scholarship Program has granted $264,000 in scholarships since the programs inception in 1999. Last year, more than 5,000 applications were received from candidates nationwide. The La Estrella Latina de Carls Jr. Scholarship Program is administered by Scholarship America, a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization.
