COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- If youve been waiting for the
White Castle restaurants on Alum Creek Drive and another on Stringtown Road in
Grove City to reopen you wont have to have wait any longer for your favorite
steam grilled hamburgers. Both new replacement buildings opened on Friday,
December 30.

The Alum Creek unit is roughly 2,000 square feet in size and showcases the
newest reimaging program including white split face block exterior with
attractive awnings and a new lighting package and improved customer access.
Earth tone colors, branded artwork, accent lighting and a mix of booths and
free-standing tables of different heights are featured. There is seating for
approximately 50 guests. A new front counter design made of Bisazza glass
mosaic tiles serves as a welcoming focal point that is pleasing to the eye and
eases the ordering process. The overall decor highlights images from
throughout White Castles nearly 85 years in business. The Grove City
location has a similar decor package.
According to Ken Walters, Columbus Regional Director of Restaurant
Operations, "We have operated restaurants in the Columbus area since 1929 and
are extremely proud of the continued opportunity to serve the Columbus market
with the same high quality delicious food in comfortable and modern dining
environments. We plan to re-open the Castle at Henderson and Kenny Road later
this month with a brand new building as well. Its an exciting time for the
Columbus region with many of the Castles in the area being remodeled and/or
replaced with a new look."
2006 marks a monumental year for White Castle. To kick off the 85th
anniversary the company has published a new recipe book, By the Sackful: A
Scrapbook with Recipes from 85 Years of Craving that is available at
http://www.whatyoucrave.com (and in restaurants for a limited time). Proceeds from
the sale of the book will be donated to the non-profit group, Turkeys 4
America, Inc.
The companys 85th anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with
several events planned that allow their customers to continually be involved
with the brand. White Castle is the official sponsor of National Hamburger
Month, celebrated each May 1-31. Team members from the home office can be
found working in select White Castle restaurants during the month of May in
celebration of the employees working on the front lines.
In 2006, the 15th annual Crave Time Cook Off competition will encourage
customers to submit a unique recipe using 10 White Castle hamburgers and the
chance to win a Crave Case (30 burgers) a week for one year.
Customers can submit their ultimate Crave story in the 6th annual Cravers
Hall of Fame competition. Theyll vie for the chance to come to Columbus and
be inducted into the hallowed Hall along with the likes of members of the rock
group The Smithereens and Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle stars, John Cho
and Kal Penn.
Central Ohio residents who have been inducted into the Cravers Hall of
Fame include Gabrielle and Stephan Farrenkopf of Gahanna, Capt. H.M. Goetz and
Jerry Kaltenbach of Columbus and Charlie Evranian of New Albany.
