NEEDHAM, Mass., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Fresh City took another step forward with its mission to offer great tasting and healthy alternatives to traditional "fast food" announcing its new Gluten Free menu options. The Needham based restaurant chain now offers guests with Gluten Intolerance, menu options to fit their lifestyle. "Because our food is prepared fresh and made- to-order we are able to offer our guests simple changes in order to accommodate any diet or lifestyle preference," states COO Bruce Reinstein. "Eating Gluten free doesnt equal lack of flavor, we strive to show our guests they can still experience the same fresh flavor minus products containing gluten." As of January 1, 2006 the FDA is requiring all food labels to disclose in plain language foods that contain common allergies, such as peanuts, shellfish, eggs, wheat, gluten etc. Although the FDA is not requiring restaurants to disclose the same information, Fresh City CEO Larry Reinstein wants this initiative to carry through to his guests so they know what they are eating. "There is no mystery in our products or menu items, thats the beauty of eating fresh foods," states Reinstein. Celiac Disease, also known as Gluten Intolerance affects 1.5 to 3 million Americans. Celiac disease is a condition in which there is a chronic reaction to certain protein chains, commonly referred to as glutens, found in some cereal grains. Fresh City has made it a priority to include gluten free menu options as a part of the Know Your Food initiative. Guests are encouraged to log on to http://www.freshcity.com to find a wealth of nutritional information on Fresh Citys menu items and menu alternatives. There are also in-store kiosks so where guests can find the same information before ordering. About Fresh City Fresh City was founded in 1997 by Boston born brothers Larry and Bruce Reinstein. The fast casual restaurant offers guests an array of unique menu items mixing ingredients, ideas, and styles to yield a unique culinary celebration called Fresh Fusion Cuisine. The menu includes a variety of salads, wraps, Asian noodle and stir-fry dishes, sandwiches, and smoothies.
